Ever since the official announcement of the Nintendo Switch, we’ve always been skeptical on whether or not such a device could work. We’ve never really gotten a 2-in-1 gaming system from any of the major brands, and the ones that were released failed to take off.

Bearing that in mind, it was evident to us that Nintendo was venturing into uncharted waters and only a miracle could bring forth the kind of success Nintendo is looking for. As we fast forward into the future, the Switch is looking like a system that could go on to rival the PlayStation 2 in terms of sales volume.

The 2-in-1 effect is most effective

The Nintendo Switch is a gaming device that can act as a home console and a handheld console for gaming while mobile. If you’re playing “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” while at home, it’s quite easy to unplug and continue playing while outside. It’s the feature that sets the Switch apart from the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

So far, many have praised the 2-in-1 idea for being exactly what they’ve always wanted.

Nintendo-exclusive video games

Sony is quite strong when it comes down to exclusive video games, but let’s face it, Nintendo is the granddaddy in this department, and there’s no stopping that. Titles such as Super Mario, Zelda, Mario Go Kart, Metroid, Animal Crossing, and more, are genuine system sellers.

We’ve already seen what effect a Zelda and Mario Go Kart have on sales, and that’s just the beginning.

Now, third-party developers have yet to show high interest in the system, but as time goes by, this will likely change, especially if the device continues to be a success.

Load times? Get outta here

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One video game systems are both stronger than the Switch, yet, they are not able to match the Switch in terms of load times. When playing a game for the Sony or Microsoft system, players must first install the game to the hard drive then wait for it to load before playtime.

Getting to play a game can take even longer if downloading and installing a day-one patch comes into play. These issues are missing from the Switch, which is another great reason to consider purchasing the device when you’re out shopping.

The main issue facing the Switch

The Nintendo Switch is a fantastic gaming system, no doubt. The games are not all there, but with time they will appear. However, there’s one important issue Nintendo needs to get around fixing, and that’s the battery life.

Battery life can last from 2.5 hours to 6 hours. This depends heavily on the gaming experience.  A game such as “Zelda: Breath of the Wild” will decrease the battery quite quickly, henceforth, Nintendo needs to release a battery pack sooner rather than later.

Hopefully, Nintendo has something to announce regarding battery life during its next Nintendo Direct, or at E3 2017.
