We haven’t been hearing much from Jaguar in recent times, but the company came out with all guns blazing not too long ago when it announces its most powerful car ever, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8. This particular vehicle is a version of the XE sedan, but with power and the obvious looks of a sports car.

So far, we do have a broad idea of what the finished product will look like. However, the vehicle shown is wrapped in camouflage, so it’s not possible to tell right now of the colors and the overall paint job of the finished product. It should be a looker seeing as the Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) team is responsible for it.

Only a few hundred Jaguar XE SV Project 8s will go into production

The company isn’t aiming to sell millions of its newest vehicle, which is expected since the price will only target rich sports car lovers and those seeking a new antique. Because of this, Jaguar will only manufacture 300 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 vehicles, which should be enough to meet demands.

When manufacturing begins, a report claims each vehicle will be hand assembled in Coventry by the Special Vehicle Operations team. That alone should give us an idea of the price, and believe us; it won’t come cheap in any sense of the word.

It should be interesting to see if when the first 300 have been sold if Jaguar will take the chance to bring more to the market or leave it at that.

What’s under the hood of the beast?

The original XE Sedan came with a 2.0-liter engine which is quite powerful in its own right. However, this newer version will rock a 5.0-liter V8 engine for all the speed fans. So far, the test vehicle is capable of kicking up to 592 bhp. It’s not the fastest car in the world, but it should possess the means to keep up with the pack.

This is the second Jaguar to be taken over by the Special Vehicle Operations team, the first being the F-Type, also known as Project 7.

“The time is right for SVO to produce the most extreme performance road car in the history of Jaguar. The SVO team is possessed by the spirit of performance and committed to creating the most thrilling driving experience imaginable,” according to Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, John Edwards.

When it comes down to when Jaguar will release the full spec sheet of the XE SV Project 8, we understand fans will have to wait until June 28, 2017. On that date, the car will make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.

We’re awaiting the big reveal, and if it’s as great as the first round of information makes it out to be, then this beastly Jaguar could become one of the must-have sports cars of the year.
