The “Wonder Woman” movie is making a killing at the box office after finally passing $600 million worldwide. It does not surprise us the film is making a lot of money. Critics have praised the movie for being the best DC Extended Universe film ever made.

With over $600 million in the bag, “Wonder Woman” appears as if it could tap out at $700 million, with the chance to make more from DVDs, Blu-rays, and digital sales.

There’s no chance for this movie to make a billion dollars, but if the second film manages to get higher ratings, then crossing a billion dollars at the box office is entirely possible. So far, not a single DC Extended Universe movie has made a billion dollars.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” came close, but it fell off the wayside. It was a film with a lot of potentials, but got bogged down by lazy writing and just as lazy directing.

As for “Suicide Squad,” one of the most terrible movies we’ve seen in a long time, well, it performed well, but the success was not earned, not by a long shot.

And then there’s “Man of Steel,” arguably the best movie to grace the DC Extended Universe. It did well, but if it were a better film, it could have earned a billion dollars without breaking a sweat.

Wonder Woman director going places

Patty Jenkins is the director of “Wonder Woman,” and the first female director to tackle a superhero movie. There have been some reports in the past that claim “Wonder Woman” will likely become the highest grossing film with a female director attached.

It will surpass Phyllida Lloyd’s “Mamma Mia!” for second place, a movie that grossed $608 million worldwide. At the top spot, we have “Frozen” with a final total of $1.27 billion, and was directed by Jennifer Lee.

Now, we can say “Wonder Woman” will gain the top spot for live action movies from a female director, but overall, Jennifer Lee’s “Frozen” holds the number one spot and we doubt that’s going to change anytime soon.

Wonder Woman in Justice League and beyond

Wonder Woman will show up in the “Justice League” film later this year. We do not know what role she’ll play as a member of the league, but from what we can tell from the trailer, her role is pivotal to defeating Darkseid and his army.

Not to mention, the Amazons have fought against these forces before, so she should know a thing or two about killing aliens from another world.

As for what the character will be doing after “Justice League,” we can’t say at the moment, but there’s always the option for her to appear in the new Batman movie in 2019. The sequel to “Wonder Woman” won’t be ready until some time, so until then, Warner Bros. would want to do something with her.
