Game of Thrones: “The Queen’s Justice” surprised many with the death of a particular character. Others were too busy gawking over the sexual tension between The Mother of Dragons and The King in the North. However, there was one interesting scene folks seem to be overlooking.

As Jon Snow slowly makes his way to meet Queen Daenerys Targaryen, Varys and Melisandre were above looking down and having a discussion. Melisandre is preparing to leave due to bad blood with Jon and Sir Davos. Furthermore, she’s also leaving because of unknown duties in Volantis, and fans may never see her again until season 8.

Melisandre’s cryptic words of prophecy

Varys seems to know why Melisandre is unable to face Jon and Sir Davos. For those who are not huge fans of the series, Melisandre sacrificed Stannis Baratheon’s daughter to the red god by burning her alive. Her plans failed after Stannis fell in battle. She’s only alive because of her role in returning Jon Snow to the land of the living.

Knowing this, Varys told her to leave and never return, or she’ll be killed. Melisandre replied saying, “Oh, I will return dear Spider. One last time. I have to die in this strange country, just like you.” The look on Varys’ face is telling.

It would appear as if Melisandre saw her death, and that of Varys in the flames, or somewhere else. If we look deep into previous episodes, we might get an idea what she knows about the future, if even a hint.

We are aware that when Varys was a child, he got his manly bits chopped off by a sorcerer, who then threw it into the flames. A voice from the fire responded, and that’s probably where he learned of his fate. It’s likely Melisandre knows what happened, just like Kinvara, another red priestess who met Daenerys and incidentally, Varys, back in season 6.

Arya might kill Melisandre

In season 3 of “Game of Thrones,” Melisandre came across Arya and seemingly predicted her death along with Arya becoming a Faceless Man. She grabbed the young Stark’s face and said, “I see a darkness in you.” “And in that darkness, eyes staring back at me. Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes. Eyes sealed shut forever. We will meet again.”

Yes, this is probably Melisandre predicting her death by the hands of Arya Stark. Bear in mind; these characters have yet to see each other again ever since that scene. Arya is heading home, and Melisandre is taking a trip to Volantis.

Season 8 is when these characters will meet again, and that’s where Arya will likely use her Faceless Man powers to destroy Melisandre. It’s difficult to predict, but we believe we’re onto something here.
