We all have digestive troubles from time to time, some more than others. It’s not always an easy thing to deal with, but in the world of digital health and technology, things could get a lot better than it is today.

The app is called MyHealthyGut, and it’s all about making it easier for folks to control their digestive problems by consuming the correct foods. If you have celiac disease or gluten intolerance, MyHealthyGut is one of the best apps to own on your iPhone and or iPad.

Justine Dowd, Ph.D., and her colleagues Desiree Nielsen, dietician, along with Darlene Higbee Clarkin, CEO, and founder of WholeLife HealthTech are the women behind the MyHealthyGut app and services.

So far, thousands of people have downloaded the app to their Apple mobile devices to keep their health under control.

“I think that, number one, gut health is just such an important issue these days,” says Dowd. “So many people struggle with digestive issues, and so many people use smartphones, so it’s just a good way to put health in the hands of the users and empower them.”

Understanding how your gut works

With this impressive app, users will have access to the top 25 foods along with the top three supplements they should consume. Additionally, there’s also a one-day meal plan with recipes and tips on how to cook the best food for your needy gut.

Users can even create a grocery list and share with friends and families.

Now, if you’re a person with gluten intolerance or celiac disease, MyHealthyGut should be capable of making things easier to understand. It’ll recommend the best food to eat in a bid to keep problems at bay.

The app is not 100 percent free

Consumers who want to understand more about celiac disease or gluten intolerance, are required to make in-app purchases to gain access to the top 50 food groups and top 10 supplements, along with the Safe Food Database.

Paying customers will also get to play around with the anti-inflammatory seven-day meal plan.

MyHealthyGut could win the health technology award

Earlier this month, the app was added to the Interface Challenge health technology award and managed to make it in the Top 50. The contest plans on giving away over $100,000 in cash and prizes and the folks behind MyHealthyGut is aiming to take home the primary award.

Should the MyHealthyGut team win the award, the plan is to invest the money earned into incorporating a food scanning feature into the app. Furthermore, the team will then move forward to improve the food database by adding more foods.

First place winners will walk away with $40,000 in cash, with an additional $15,000 plus services and promotion via the media.
